Multicentre Monitoring of Deliberate Self Harm

 

The Centre for Suicide Research is co-ordinating a national collaboration of centres which collect data on deliberate self harm (DSH). The benefits of a multicentre approach are:

The Department of Health has funded an 18 month pilot study in which research centres in Manchester and Leeds will collaborate with Oxford to establish the methodology for multicentre monitoring of deliberate self harm, recruit other centres to ensure that representative areas of England are covered, and produce preliminary reports on recent trends in self harm. The ultimate aim is to establish a long-term national monitoring system for DSH.
