The Centre is involved in a number of clinical trials:
|
|
A large simple randomised clinical trial comparing lithium and valproate semisodium (Depakote) combination therapy with lithium monotherapy and with valproate semisodium monotherapy as maintenance treatment for bipolar disorder.
CEQUEL is a randomised clinical trial of treatment for bipolar depression. The trial is comparing combination therapy with quetiapine plus lamotrigine with quetiapine monotherapy for treatment of bipolar depression.
CEQUEL will also:
- investigate the effect of adding folic acid to other treatments for bipolar depression
- find out which of the treatments best helps people to remain well after an episode of depression
- look for genetic factors that affect response to folic acid
Both trials are funded by the Stanley Medical Research Institute, a leading US mental health charity.
